Summary: Pre-AT THE GATES masterpiece!!!

Review: Most are probably aware that members of this band would later end up in AT THE GATES, OXIPLEGATZ, and DIABOLIQUE. It's also rumored that Shamatee (ARCKANUM) was in this band at one time?!?! GROTESQUE was very superior to all the other bands mentioned. Their music style is a very dark black/death style, mostly around the mid-pace level, but it does have faster and slower moments. The vocals of Goatspell (aka Tomas Lindberg) are fucken excellent and horrific, far superior to his later vocal works!!! The first 3 tracks were recorded in Sunlight studio, so they do have a bit of that "Swedish" guitar sound, but do NOT overlook this release for this reason!!!! Two tracks from one of their demos are also included, these seem to be a bit more "thrashy", but still excellent!!! This mlp is LONG out of print, but it has been re-issued on the cd "In The Embrace Of Evil" (which includes this mlp, a full demo, and some new tracks from 1996!!)...
