Fight Analysis

Forward: There are several things to take into consideration before you read these FAs, and before you cast your vote. Above all I'd like to implore you to vote with your heart, not with your head in this most important of Contests. Here are a few reasons why: 1) Older characters simply weren't created with the same system used for characters today. We get a LOT more points now, plus upgrades, plus a more lenient Kit system. A straight powers comparison is almost always a wash or a victory for the new guy. Old and new fighters can't and shouldn't be compared along these terms. 2) Older characters have signficantly less "beef" for one very good reason: that was the standard back then. Also, powers were interpreted differently. Be careful before you assume that an HoFer doesn't make sense. They must've to some people, right? 3) In essence you're not only voting for "who would win this fight," you're voting for which character you want to represent the FPL (that includes you). The CoC champ is usually the first character sheet most newbies read when they're researching greatness. To paraphrase Q, in a way the CoC champ is like the FPL's ambassador to the masses. Choose wisely, and remember: these are cursory glimpses into a complex world through a shattered eyepiece. What goes on in your mind's eye is what truly matters. Besides, I suck at FAs. In any case, have fun!

Round 6

Here goes nothing...

Mr. Hero -vs.- Sphere
Well, this fight has been covered before, so anything I write will seem like a reprise, but... Strictly from a powers perspective, Hero has his work cut out for him.
Smarts/Planning: They've fought each other before so it's likely that each will have a good idea what the other is capable of. Sphere is one level smarter (Superior vs Standard) and has Detective to back him up, but Mr. Hero has EA and a better reaction time which will come in handy in the low visibility Caves. Chances are neither one is going to be able to pull off any surprise attacks.
Sphere on the attack: Sphere has what it takes to weather away Hero's Iron Will, possibly in a single shot considering Multi Attack and the fact that Energy Body and Energy Sheath strike together, essentially two hits in one. However, his efforts will be daunted for a time, considering Hero has Superior Agility and Danger Sense. Hero would undoubtedly like to keep the fight at range, but his lack of a movement power renders that almost an impossibility. Clearly, however, Hero will have some time to mount an offense before he's in danger of being KOed.
Mr.Hero on the attack: For his part, Mr Hero can rely on prior knowledge to know to hit hard and fast with Sphere, not giving him the time he needs to power up. His weapons - a versatile Superior Physical attack in Spellcraft, and a Supreme Mental attack with Illus. Control - are effective in general, the former being slightly more accurate at range (due again to one level of Agility), but both are subject to Sphere's Defenses, which either match Hero's offense level (in the case of IC) or dwarf it (in the case of Spellcraft). Hero has got to attack quickly and try and wear down Sphere's defenses - poke and run simply won't work, especially considering Hero has no movement power to run away. All in all it's a tough (re) draw for Hero.

Stella Aurorae -vs.- Jordan Kennedy
A clash of titans, to be sure. Let's take a look, shall we?
Smarts/Planning: Jordan has this in spades. Stella is a relatively straightforward (albeit endlessly flexible) powerhouse of a character, whereas Jordan has both Godlike Intellect and Supreme Tactician, so you know she has to have some kind of plot worming around in her brain. This is where Jordan really shines - and it provides her with her only possible method of victory beyond dumb luck (see below).
Stella on the attack: Stella can literally unmake Jordan. Simple as that, with a word. Jordan has no defense against Stella's illusions - in fact the ingenuity of Stella's combo is such that it wouldn't matter if she did. Stella would simply cause those defenses to cease to exist.
Jordan on the attack: For her part, Jordan's Supreme Marksman gives her a near guaranteed hit against Stella when you take her planning into account, even considering Stella's Standard Acrobat. Stella also has no defense to protect her when she does get hit. Her only chance is to strike first.
Indeed, this is a classic first shot first kill matchup. Stella has an ace in the hole however in the form of one little power: Standard Superspeed. With this she gains the initiative, and possibly the match. Jordan's only possible counter: a plan. With Ultimate Mind and Tactician, she'd better hope she has a good one. If she can distract Stella long enough to get the first shot in (say, the Jordan appearing in the scenario is actually a hologram... what? a holographic projector can be considered a weapon) or if she can somehow shrug off being dismembered/unmade/etc. Then she should be able to take the match without too much difficulty.

Pajama Pockets -vs.- Glaucon and the Void
An interesting matchup, and a cool scenario to boot. Let's see how Pockets 3.0 stacks up against the Void boy.
Smarts/Planning: Not much to consider here, they both have standard mind and no planning/detection skills. Pockets might be a bit more immature, whereas Glaucon would be more prone to mental falters given his mental state thusfar in the CoC and his unique weakness to vertigo and falling (particularly if the Dreamtime manages to pierce through his own sheltered thoughts).
Pockets on the attack: Molly's hard to FA for, another Lucky character. She also has Matter Animation and her pillow on her side, as well as the Illusions of the Dreamtime. Let's break them down in to Physical vs Mental Attacks. Physically she's not going to be able to do much to Glaucon for quite some time - she'll have to wear away (or knock away) his Supreme level Defenses down to Standard before she can start thinking about exhausting his Iron Will, considering that Iron Will also soaks Standard level Damage. Mentally she has a better shot: Glaucon's Pendant will give out after ten or so blows, and then she just needs to score two in a row to down Glaucon. Glaucon is far from graceful, unlike his opponent, so Pockets can be assured that it will only be a matter of time before he cracks.
Glaucon on the attack: ... That is to say, if he cracks. Glaucon has the power to take this match early on once he finds Molly, due to one power: Paralysis. With her Supreme Agility and Superior Acrobat powers, it's unlikely that Glaucon would be able to get a bead on the Dreamtime warrior even with Standard Marksman. However, because Paralysis is Auto Hit, it has the chance to make Pockets a sitting duck (she has no defense, mental or otherwise, against it, barring the intervention of Luck). If Glaucon can freeze Pockets, the match will likely be his. While immobile, Pockets can still count on the Dreamtime World to come to her defense (since it operates independently), and can most likely still use her Illusory Powers, but not quick enough to end the threat, when one hit from the Void or Glaucon's TK will KO her, even if Luck comes into full effect. Glaucon's mobility only adds to the conundrum. Overall Pockets has to find someway to consistently avoid being paralyzed or this dream will become a nightmare.

Ringnifti -vs.- Fastest Pussycat
A classic char vs a popular newcomer. Will Speed be enough to save the day?
Ringnifti on the attack: Ring has the power to end Pussycat's hopes of becoming Avatar with one blow, and the mobility to throw her off balance. Also, her Auto Hit Paralysis comes into play, an assuredly deadly power to use against a speedster. If Ring can sight Pussycat first and call on Speck's services, this match may be over before it starts.
Fastest Pussycat on the attack: On the other hand, Fastest also has a game ending attack with vibration, and the Speed and Agility to both close the distance and strike first. Couple this with Ringnifti's slight bumbling tendencies and we have ourselves a real match. It's who can find who first in the dark, really. Fastest Pussycat had better strike quickly if she does get the chance though, or the little-girl-who-really-SHOULDN'T-be-in-The-Fallen will rack up another win.
