Forward: There are several things to take into consideration before you read these FAs, and before you cast your vote. Above all I'd like to implore you to vote with your heart, not with your head in this most important of Contests. Here are a few reasons why: 1) Older characters simply weren't created with the same system used for characters today. We get a LOT more points now, plus upgrades, plus a more lenient Kit system. A straight powers comparison is almost always a wash or a victory for the new guy. Old and new fighters can't and shouldn't be compared along these terms. 2) Older characters have signficantly less "beef" for one very good reason: that was the standard back then. Also, powers were interpreted differently. Be careful before you assume that an HoFer doesn't make sense. They must've to some people, right? 3) In essence you're not only voting for "who would win this fight," you're voting for which character you want to represent the FPL (that includes you). The CoC champ is usually the first character sheet most newbies read when they're researching greatness. To paraphrase Q, in a way the CoC champ is like the FPL's ambassador to the masses. Choose wisely, and remember: these are cursory glimpses into a complex world through a shattered eyepiece. What goes on in your mind's eye is what truly matters. Besides, I suck at FAs. In any case, have fun! Here we go. Sorry these are late, had trouble rallying the troops. As usual, to protect the innocent I've enlisted several helpers and you don't get to know who wrote which FA, so you can't hold us individually accountable for any mistakes we've made! MWAHAHAHA! Erm, yeah. Oh, and FAs should get longer and more detailed as the rounds go on. Rez vs. The Master Psychic Psycho: Well it's pretty safe to say Rez will get the first shot off, and with both fighter's high mind stat I don't think the terrain will be all that big a problem. The MPP can take at least one hit from Rez (who I believe will have to get through his forcefield before he can teleport him anywhere. Now on the other hand Rez doesn't have any mental defense short of a mental 'dodge' (I usually figure that by mind scores so call it 50/50). If he scores with mind blast then Rez is toast. If on the other hand he uses his tractor beam and snatches rez's computer then the hacker is in BIG trouble. However Rez DOES have a higher agility rating than MPP so his chances of scoring with the tractor beam aren't all that good, and neither are his chances of avoiding all the firepower Rez can bring to bear on him. Deadman Striding vs. Ryuketsu Hane: Well Ryuketsu has a really high agility rating which should give him the first shot provided he and the deadman spot each other at the same time. He's also got a range advantage (though that's somewhat limited by the terrain). 1 shot from his gravity attack will drop the Deadman's iron will.. and if he can get another shot in quick enough then he'll finish him off.. however if he tries to hand to hand instead of keeping his distance, or if the deadman manages to get close enough, he's screwed since his regen won't help him against the bio-vamp attack, his gravity is less effective at that range and his energy sheathe isn't enough to outdo the deadman's healing. So really this is down to the terrain.. and the vale almost garauntee's this'll turn into a close range fight, and the deadman's luck only helps the odds. Advantage: Deadman Josh Stone: GM vs. The UV light warriors: Well let's look at it.. UV lightwarriors have superior mobility thanks to their superior level flight. Josh has better protection thanks to his mechanized armor, reaction times are about the same (but only because the UVLW have that super speed), can do more damage than the UVLW can heal, and to top it all off he's got a skill boosting his accuracy. Advanatage: Josh Stone unless the UVLW spot him first and close the distance before he cuts loose on them. Death-In-A-Box vs. Trevor Bouvier: Lets see.. trevor doesn't have any detection powers, but he does have minions and decoys. On the other none of his defenses can stand up to DIAB, and to top it off DIAB has a higher level tactician than he does. This is also the mall.. where an army of robots will REALLY stand out, while our friend DIAB has tons of places to hide. Now, while DIAB may be fooled by those decoys, the paranoia his presence inspires is going to gradually eat away at Trevor until he cracks.. and when he does you can bet those decoys will pick him out. Advanatage: *Sproing!* *Chop!* *roll roll roll* Thanatopsis vs. Behemoth: IMHO thanny has this one in the bag. Yes Behemoth has ult. level mental defense.. thanny has ultimate level phasing plus energy wave surfing.. that gives her quite a bit of mobility compared to behemoth. Add in that she has illusion creation and Behemoth is going to find his defenses under assault all the way in at her.. and those same defenses give her time for her detective to go to work on him. Once his defenses are down, Behemoth is likely to find himself in that cave again... and all she has to do to hit him is keep him in sight whereas he has to actually catch her first. Advantage: Thanatopsis Zalrafel vs. Vote Mongerer: This one's pretty cut and dry if I do say so. Zalrafel's got a formidable defensive combo... that's completely useless against mentalists. That iron will will only hold up under a single hit, while the VMs can shrug off everything Zalrafel throws at him short of a direct touch.. and even then the VM will have plenty of time to fry him. Advantage: Vote Mongerer Aleister Micheals vs. T's Fruit Stand: Well.. all I can say is that Aleistar better get very lucky (which with that luck power he may). Otherwise I doubt his ability to get through the fruit stand's armor before a shot from T's missiles smears him all over the floor. Advantage: T's Fruit Stand Saiyan Chick Tomata vs. Myth and Griff: What can I say... SCT has all the advantages short of pure firepower (but what she has is more than enough to reduce Myth and Griff to salsa). Faster reaction times, better chance to hit, etc. etc. Advantage: Saiyan Chick Tomata JOE BIGG ARMUR vs. Arissa Mishima: Well... JBA and Arissa have about the same reaction speed (SS + Supreme Mind + Weak agility vs. Superior Agility + Standard Mind). However JBA has more useful detection powers than Arissa considering the environment. If Arissa has time to plan then she can win.. possibly. She has to get a good two hits on JBA to win, while JBA only needs one. However if she manages to snatch his radar with her TK, then things even out and she's got the advantage (standard EA and Danger sense may not be much but it's better than nothing). The Black Gestalt vs. Blitzkrieg: Now normally I'd say the Black Gestalt didn't stand a chance at all.. except for one little thing.. TBG's supreme energy body. And Blitzkrieg's only method of attack is to actually touch his opponent. Unfortuneatly TBG's defenses can withstand his standard level disintegration while his weak body can't take the damage physical contact would bring. Advantage: The Black Gestalt. Immortus vs. Pajama Pockets Pajama Pockets has sufficient grace to avoid Immortus' attacks long enough for her mental attacks to make the Fallen assassin drift off into peaceful slumber. Hopefully he'll dream of death, and happier times. Fail vs. Alexander Young Another Luck based fight. If Alexander can get a shot in or let the Wall of Carnage work for/with him, he should be good to go. On the other hand, he'll end up nothing but dissipated Eldritch Energy, wailing at the wind. Devyn Soyokaze vs. Schattenjäger As scary as it is, Schattenjager is faster than Devyn due to his Super Speed and Photographic Reflexes. The only question is whether he can put them to good use. Devyn has a much higher level of accuracy, and greater ability to detect his opponent in the winding caves. OTOH Schattenjager can take at least one good blow, and respond in kind. Due to these factors, I give a slight advantage to the Shadow Hunter. Mr. Hero vs. Emergency Malpractice Hologram The Truth hurts... especially for a hologram. With better speed and better detecting abilities, Mr Hero should be able to end this one before he can be hit by the good doctor's weapons. Moreover, he can take a hit while the hologram can't (at least not from Truth's illusions). Whisper vs. Tokyo Who's produced more crappy pop music than Japan? (well, except for the United States). Whisper's coming at the matchstick city with a vengeance. Ball of DEATH vs. Holli & Sammy The Ball just can't take what it gives out, which is what Holli & Sammy are all about. Ultimate Agility aside, I just can't see the Ball avoiding the Wrath of God for very long. The fact that there are trap hazards only makes the scene that much more chaotic. Lincoln Matthews vs. The Green Nyght Nyght's best chance is to try and close the distance quickly. She will have the initiative, but all her ranged attacks can be ignored indefinitely due to Lincoln's Iron Will. If she can't dodge the arena's traps and close in for the BOPing finish, a quick Mind Blast is going to put her down for the count. Master Chin vs. IVS II As cool as old school Master Chin is, he simple doesn't have the tools needed to take down IVS II. Invershryke is simply faster and more powerful. The Challenger brings shame to Iron Chef Japanese. The Semi Rational Penguin vs. All-Father They both have good taste in music, so All-Father loses the RAGE. However, his huge agility and super speed give him first shot, and if he can connect SRP is down for the count. If he misses, however, or doesn't come out blasting away with Ringo, the baffling nature of SRP will take hold, and then the match belongs to the arctic fowl. Sebastian Dover vs. The Arena of Khazan Unfortunately Dover doesn't have the firepower to take down the Arena in one blow, having foregone high level destruction for finesse. While his first shot will reduce the arena to standard body, the Counter attack and the arena's own volley of fire will probably end the match. The clever assassin had better move, and move fast. Bob Vs Dean's Deadman While only one of Bob's Powers was shut down, you have to look at The CONCEPT when dealing with the Dead Man. And In seeing that I have to ask myself: Exactly HOW is Bob going to mess with the Deadmans head? It gives me a Headache thinking of it. Victory for the Guy next to the Mustard. Lee Vs Surge This...This..Ugh. Vote Lee. NEXT! Dodecahedron of DEATH vs Munch Monster Unfortunetly, the DoD isn't a Nawty Girl, so I don't think MM is gonna have much intrest in it, unless it trys to cut into MM's mechandising deals. Not to menton that fact that well..If MM tries to eat it then it's just gonna get something nasty done to it. Sailor Archer Vs tRAF Well... both of Archer's offensive powers are negated, so she's relegated to pure physical attacks with her Strength ranking. TRAF has a ranged Mind Blast attack, but Archer is just as effective at dodging as TRAF is, and has the added advantage of Flight and Phasing to keep from getting hit easily. So despite the loss of her powers. Archer still has a good chance of taking this fight. But TRAF most likely will hit with his Mind Blast before Archer gets into melee range to clobber him. Final Vote: 27-18 theRather Annoying Fellow Saint of Pizza Delivery vs Malcom A Bounty Hunter vs a Pizza Delivery Guy? Did Jabba get hungry for Black Market Mozzarella? Who Knows? My Personal View: Malcom steps in front to blast it and ends up adorning the hood with all the other Roadkill. Then again, with his Lucky, he might end up blocking Saint's Vision and making him Crash into a Tree...I say it could go either way. Page vs Pajama Pockets Okay. First I need to state this: I'll never forgive Hexx for not giving Pockets the Fluffy Blanket of Comfy. There, got it out of my system. Anyway..I can see this match as being a REALLY Twisted Bedtime story. Page has Supreme Detective, so she's gonna know Pockets Main thing is to go for the Sleep attack early. Her Closed mind gives her some hope of resisting it, and I feel that the Forewarning will be enough to do that. Then, Pages super Speed will be enough to Deliver a Knockout to Pockets, as her Cold just lacks the OMMPH to get by Page's Regeneration. Kay Pratchett vs Scrapyard Angel Slaughter in Scrapyards Favor. I could go into it, but I'm tired. NEXT MATCH! ^_~ Jim the Vagrant vs DaD DaD starts jamming. Jim screams pet the Kitten. DaD dosen't hear them. Jim Screams some more. Repeat and Rinse. Evenutualy Jim does the Unwise move and gets close and blasted away by the Massive Amps. Victory for DaD Ringnifti vs Jack Spanky Hmm, what's Jack punishing her for again? Self exploration is perfectly nor-*collapses, bopped by Ringnifti and Landon simultaneously* Anywho, as I was saying... Ringnifti is speedier than her foe, and despite the Spank Force Speck should be able to freeze him in place. Jack's best chance is if Ring goes for the her cold based attack and misses, and stays put trying to figure out why the bad man is after her, which prompts the quick Mind Spank. Otherwise she just has the mobility and the fire power to keep Jack down for the count. Andromedia vs Fastest Pussycat I...HATE...Andromedia. Fastest Pussycat gets it on Principle. Dean: First Blood -vs.- The Hand of Justice The Hand of Justice is an excelent melee fighter. His Cattle Prod attacks and his Sword Master make him a very effective attacker on the melee scale. Add in a dose of Bezerker and good Agility and he can go toe to toe with many melee-types. His main problem is the fact that his Electricity and Paralysis are Multi-Use. On the other hand, Dean has some great defense and offense of his own with his Energy Body. Couple that with his Ultimate Tactician and he can wait out the battle until Justice has used up all of his attacks with his Cattle Prod and take the match. Final Vote: 29-16 Dean: First Blood Sophia DiMedicci -vs.- One Million Total Powers wise I have to give this one to Sophia. She has the brains, and the defense to weather anything Lost Cause can throw at her early on in the game - His marksman even works against him, in a way. Once she gets in range, she'll be able to respond in kind with her vicious strength based counterattack. It will take a LONG time for LC to break through her Forcefield, Telepathy, and Danger Sense powers, even if she weren't actively trying to retaliate. On the Other Hand, Sophia cannot respond with an attack greater than what is dealt to her, and she has the Lusitania to break through. It's going to be a long, drawn out struggle through the swamp, but I have to assume Sophia will be giving 1MT the gift of a new kind of pain... Kyoko vs Sphere This was a REALLY Tough match to call, But Sphere has a Defense for everything Kyoko can throw at him, while Kyoko can't say the same. VERY Narrow Victory for Sphere Mr. Graves -vs.- Lord Apathy Apathy just sort of sits there, whereas Graves has ranged Disintegration. Yes, the Disintegration is Multi-Use, but 10 shots is more than enough to erode Apathy's armor. And since Graves need not enter melee range to finish off Apathy, Apathy's Cold and Emotion Control will never really come into play. Graves owns this match easily. Final Vote: 40-5 Mr. Graves The Screaming Swordsman -vs.- Mikoto Swordsman's speed is always a huge boost for him, and almost guarantees that he'll be the first striker. The catch in this match, though, is twofold. First is Swordsman's Weak Agility, which guarantees that his attack patters will effectively be a straight ahead attack, no fancy maneuvering or the like. Couter this with Superior Enviromental Awareness on Mikoto's behalf, a rather nasty forced Teleportation combo, and better maneuverability, and I think Mikoto will teleport the Swordsman away before he finishes his approach. Final Vote: 31-14 Mikoto Dragoon T -vs.- The Extra The only real advantage The Extra has is numbers, and Dragoon T is one of those characters, as noted in the last round, that excells at taking out massive groups of characters. Dragoon's distraction game will work easily on the Weak minded Extras, and they will fall in short order. They'll get some good licks in on Dragoon, but not enough to take him down. Final Vote: 33-12 Dragoon T Chakos -vs.- T T's Ultimate Reflection is the only thing that keeps him in this fight. Otherwise, Chakos has him owned in every other department. Quicker, smarter, Luckier with his Superior Luck, far more aware with his Superior Danger Sense and Enviromental Awareness, and he has the ranged advantage since T's ranged attacks are all Multi-Use. T is tough, but Chakos has what it takes to wear him down. And T does have the Reflection, but doesn't have the ability to really make sure any reflected attacks hit back with Weak Agility and nothing to augment it beyond a One Use Thrown Objects power that will more than likely be used on T throwing his van. It'll be a long fight, but Chakos will be in control the whole time. Final Vote: 28-17 Chakos Glaucon vs Bunny One thing did this match for me: Bunny's Powers are ALL Reliant upon her sword. Between Glaucon's Ultimate Gravity and Telekinesis I honestly think it'll get ripped out of her hands early, and thus Victory for the Guy with the Void hovering next to him. Vegas -vs.- The Infinite Die It all comes down to whether Vegas' Lucky power kicks in in time. His Danger Sense will give him the time needed most likely, but doesn't guarantee the win. A very close match, hard to call, but Vegas' Lucky gives him the slight edge. Final Vote: 23-22 Vegas Hitokiri Shinigami -vs.- Barrabus Hitokiri's Immunities to Barrabus' Telepathy and Enviromental Awareness take away Barrabus' main keys to keeping up with Hitokiri. While his Detective gives him the edge mentally, since he must be in melee range to do anything to Hito, and Hito himself is one of those melee-ranged monsters, there really isn't much that Barrabus can do. Hito sneaks in and takes down Barrabus. Final Vote: 32-13 Hitokiri Shinigami Kimura Uhei vs. Maggels A close fight by any account. Kimura has higher agility and greater accuracy, but Maggels has more mobility and super speed on her side. It's also a first hit kills matchup, since Kimura's Superior Defense (from Energy Sheath) won't hold up against either Maggels' ranged or melee attacks for long. Maggels' stealth may come into play since they're in an otherwise open visibility terrain. Most likely outcome? Maggels attacks Kimura with a melee attack and gets damaged by his Ensatsu Jinrai Senpuu, resulting in a double KO. Stella Aurorae vs. Forté Wow, just... wow. This is a match that should've been saved for the quarterfinals at least, imo. Still, here they are duking it out. Since both characters rely on concept and faith more than a by-the-book combo, I'll let you read the fight and decide. There can be only one. T.R.W.R.S.S.I.M.H. vs. The Otakalypse IMO the Society is in for a lot of hurting. The don't have any defenses to counter the SDRBRF-2, whereas all their attacks have to contend with the Otakalypse's Ultimate Armor before they can do any damage. Their only chance as far as I can see would be to use tactician to lure Fury out of her fortress (perhaps with some shiny new gundam models?) and simultaneously use their berserker strength to full effect. Barring that, it's going to be one squished forest, and one trampled legion of soldiers, er... patients. Jordan Kennedy vs. ............. While Jordan would be immune to the sleepy effects of Nothing, she's got a limited amount of time to wear through Nothing's.... er, nothing-ness, and blow it to smithereens, due to it's mind control capabilities, which would soon wear away her godlike intellect. Fortunately, with both high level marksman (how hard IS it to hit nothing?) and tactician, and a maze of trees to hunt Nothing in, she's likely to spot Nothing before nothing spots her, if that makes any sense. Powers wise it's a tossup. JOE BIGG GUNNS vs. Chet Werthers Another tough call. Another case of a veteran taking on a relative newcomer to the HoF. Chet's super regenerating troops have to contend with the guy who makes things blow up. It'll be a long, drawn out battle ranging across the mountains, with Joe blowing up the MAIs only to see them regenerate before him continuously. The victor will be determined by who can find who first - Will Joe be able to find and nail Chet hiding in the Warp Craft, or will the MAIs get a shot in before Joe can blow them up? You decide. Quietus vs. Babylon Jones Man, another tough call. Babs has the advantage of resiliency and accuracy, but Quietus just has the edge in sheer offensive power and intelligence. One of those *Boom* *splat* repeat sorta matches. Eventually though I have to hand it to Jones - she simply has the ability to take the hit and respond in kind, with greater accuracy. Quietus must be cursing those Power Limiters right now... Stumpbot vs. Inju: Romantic Tentacle A tough draw for the tentacle. If Inju's Emotion Control were Auto Hit or ranged, I'd give him the fight, but as is, Stumpy's gonna shoot first, from afar, and ask questiosn later. Stumpbot has the armor to withstand at least the first few barrages from the roots of lust, whereas Inju, despite his supreme level body, can't deal with the Boomballs (kinda Freudian, aren't they?). The only way I can see Inju winning is neither Hero cutting loose for fear of hurting the innocents in the bar, in which case Inju's smooth talking would win the day. Previous FAs |
