He's also a good friend of mine, and an excellent creator to boot. Famous (or was that "In"famous?) for working behind the scenes, ThreeDark has had a hand in many of the FPL's greatest sagas and characters, from the COMING on down. In addition to his writing and plotting skill, he's also pretty good at that drawing-type-stuff. (Editor's Note: For a glimpse of more webcomicage by 3D check this out.) Abdiel Oookay, first off, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions, 3D ThreeDark I ain't answerin' none of your Questions, Copper... oh wait... Eh heh. Wrong movie. You're a talking Abdiel First Question: Which of your characters has been your "biggest success," and why? ThreeDark Um... success? What's that? Abdiel anyway you want to define it ThreeDark Technical Success: that damn Cheetah Chick Fluke. Well... no... She didn't WIN the ME. So JS:GM gets that one. Stupid nothing. Personal Success? Toc.... cause Toc's got Fanboys and I've realy got him 'developed' ICly... if not on the board than just little plot-sessions here in Chat.... And Perni. Cause Perni was my Second Character and every... er... alot of people liked him. And I think he flowed well. "m'good arse" Abdiel what about Josh, Toc and Perni make them "great" characters? What do you feel separates a "great" character from those that are simply "good"? Pie he's going to do shit like this for the rest of the interview ::P ThreeDark Blah to that Abdiel frowns at Pie ThreeDark Hah. Great. Hah. Haha. Hear me laugh. There is no great. There is only Mediocre and "Not that Bad" Pie is that a sad frown or a "time out for you" frown? Abdiel so what forms the distinction between the two, to your mind? ThreeDark They way they're received. JS became a force to be reconed with... and has since never been past the first round of Elims. Toc.... didn't even make it to Elims. BUT, he was well received by those who 'acknowledged' him. And Perni...well... Perni was Perni was Perni. Abdiel so, you feel that the most important thing for a character is how he's received by the FPL populace? ThreeDark Less how he's received by the FPL populace than by how he's recived by those who you look to for feedback. In my case the #Nightshades Populace (: As sparse as we may be. Ok, and some of #FPL but most of them are just annoying. Abdiel so in other words, you create characters for your friends? ThreeDark Yes. Abdiel what's your opinion of "groups" of newbies, like the SoS, that create for their own little clique, but meet with little success wins-wise? ThreeDark Good for them. I don't particularly buy into it all.... But that's because in the beginning they tried to.... encroach so to speak. They stepped over boundaries they didn't particularly know were there ICly.... But they have since... calmed down. It made them look like they were trying too hard. Abdiel what's your take on other groups you've been a part of, IC-wise and character-wise? Such as the COMING, and others ThreeDark the COMING I think SlacKing covers pretty well in one of his rants.... So I won't go there. Other groups... Was a little late for the Guardians. Almost was in on that but it fell through. Stupid Lytherium Weapon.... The Mystrians. Nobody talks about the Mystrians. Why? cause we're Slow, that's why. We don't try quite as hard as the SoS in that regard. We have a lot of the stuff 'ready'... We just don't Get around to putting it together. Isn't that RIGHT? She's not one of my Successes because I feel I didn't quite do her justice... but then I'm biased like that. Hell... the whole thing is just... like a big, frikkin' Goth... Magi... Space Opera deal When it all comes together... it will have been worth far more than what little effort we put into it. *Cough* Abdiel what advice do you have for those who are working on or thinking about starting collab creator/writer projects? ThreeDark Keep it secret. Build it up between yourselves. Find people you can talk to online without the use of the public boards. It makes it better... and that way it all comes out without all the messy extra posts hanging around. m'good arse Abdiel don't pick those "with whom the Slack Force is strong" as partners? ThreeDark No... no... Abdiel ;) ThreeDark Didn't say that at all. The Slack Force, despite it's high gravitational pull towards lounge-furniture.... is a great creative spark. At least for some. Abdiel What are some of your favorite story arcs and/or IC events in Khazan's history, and can we look forward to more of your own work in the near future? ThreeDark Awwheeel. You KNOW I have to say Apoc. You cannot NOT say Apoc. That is a Rule. You must say Apoc when asked about favorite Fiction. Next Favorite? Mars Attacks! Khazan! Pie is gonna hate me for saying that, but it's m'good arse. There's other stuff out there, of course, but it's either not finished.... or doesn't hold a candle. Nuff said. My work? What work? I don't Work. I plot. That said i give you a Maybe. I'm SUPPOSED to be working on something with Maxx... but the doof hasn't Mailed me yet. Abdiel So can we count on your Plottances giving birth to a character or two in the near future? If so, care to give us a breakdown or a sneak peak? ThreeDark Hell. Yes. Of course there's one bit of Plottance I can't give any word about because I'm sworn to Secrecy.... and I'm nothing if not a keeper of words. But do possibly expect to see a few Mystrian related characters some time soon... maybe. If not in the League in the CYNS section at least ^^ Abdiel nods Abdiel by the time this interview airs the Night Pack will be in the Character Gallery. Anything you'd like to add about them? ThreeDark Stupid Kits.... got me screwed up mind wise. Depends on if they go up 'tonight' or not.... Not to mention IF this goes up 'soon' if they're still in the gallery or not (: Nothing off the top of my head except that I regret not being able to color the Pic. Abdiel do you consider them an extension of Josh Stone: TM, or as fully separate character(s) in their own right? ThreeDark TECHNICALY.... they were originaly seperate as a whole from Josh completely.... but now they are a part of him story wise. Don't expect any more New Saurians from me any time soon anyway. "Don't go into the Long Grass!" Abdiel care to name some of your favorite characters, and if you're feeling brave, creators? ThreeDark Woohoo! I'm gonna name Creators.... yes... And guess what, Landon's name isn't gonna be there. Why? Because he's Overrated. There are A LOT of Characters that Deserve Attention. Hell, my FIRST Character is in the HoF Abdiel Do you feel that Elitism exists in the FPL, and if so, is it a problem? ThreeDark There is no L337. There is only conspiracy. Trust Lance. ThreeDark Ok, I dunno if Pie said this in his Interview.... but I must say it: SRP vs The Dead Guy in Dean's Fridge. Mack the Knife so, CoC. Who do you *want* to win, who you think *should* win, and who do you think *will* win? ThreeDark I WANT JS:TM to Win. I THINK there should be an All-Mangled-and-Killed button. I THINK.... therefore I Hamlet: To be or not to be. THAT is the Question. Mack the Knife indeed ThreeDark But - JS:TM will not win because he was gypped out of the Elims by the Curse that is JS. There will NOT be an All Mangled and Killed button, but hopefuly there is justice and IT will be Fatalited. and I Think that... but I hope not... One of SlacKing's characters is gonna win. Abdiel are there any matches you wish you could do over/have a second chance at? Any heartbreaking stories you wish to share? ThreeDark Oh heeel don't get me started here :) All my characters that didn't make it to the Elmis are sob storys in and of themselves save RA and Toc. And RA and Toc were just robbed is all (: Angie Black-Feather got Fatalied by that VMer Mystic-Blade. The original Gray didn't even make it into/past his First match because he got fried in the Glitch that made Serge make v2.0 of the FPL. OmegaDark got put into a Scenario Elim against an Updated Sentinel Core without Lance and I's 'permission'.... And despite his survival of that I Still couldn't update him. And my FIRST Nitpick.... Perni got pitted against Whisper in his second Elim Match. This being back when Elims WERE Elims, And Two Losses were death. Perni and Whisper both being MH. This being the Fight that caused Serge to reconsider the 'ability' for Team members to fight each other. I made a bit of a Stink.... kinda. (: Ok, Done now. ThreeDark also thinks EMH shoulda beat Graves Abdiel so if there was one thing you could change to the FPL system, what would it be? ThreeDark Mmmm... Mack the Knife patpats 3D ThreeDark Only one thing? Abdiel well, yes, but you can make it a broad, sweeping change, if you wish ThreeDark It should be IC based. Abdiel elaborate? ThreeDark The only reason people don't know who the hell Toc is is because he went 3-3. So most people don't know that FP isn't the Leader of the Marauders anymore. A lot of people do, but not everybody. Abdiel so how would that come about? ThreeDark If Toc had made it further, Even to the Six wins necessary to have stayed on the Team page, then I'd have something to show.... right now all I have is a name. And to the 'populace' that's not enough. Play Heisen. (: The FPL is not so much an IC Friendly system in that regard. Serge shouldn't try and change that. This all works to a degree that we have adapted to. Technicaly..... we ignore the Fights. Unless their Elim-Scenario or ME Fights. Otherwise... they don't exist ICly. Abdiel nods ThreeDark There's no way to Fix it. Not without reworking the entire system. That would require time. Time Serge doesn't have. So we live with what we are given... and we are happy. (movie) ("Cause it's not out yet, you idiot!" "Hush You!") DragonFang Josh, which are your more obsessed with, cheetahs wolfs or raptors an' why? ThreeDark Depends on the Context, Sam. In general I would have to say Wolves. As IC elements it' have to be Raptors.... and as an "Inside Thing" it's Cheetahs. ThreeDark Because wolves are wolves and wolves are cool. Raptors are great plot devices and characters..... and 'q_p' Abdiel Tell us a story. =) ThreeDark What Kiiiiiiind of Story? Abdiel just... tell us a story. any kind. One had many names. One had one name. and One had no name at all. One played with clay, one made the clay do stuff, and one made a muck of things. So to speak. Each brother had a world unto his own. And each world a Realm..... a Pocket of Reality to Its own. The first brother, who was realy the last 'born' of the three and thus the youngest.... the one with many names but for now we will call him The CrEAtoR. Abdiel listens intently ThreeDark The CrEAtoR oversaw a realm of constant change and Rebirth. the Eb and flow all in one direction but the direction was always full circle in that what was made would unmake that which made it and would make all anew. This world was called Dominance. The second brother, who truly was the second brother being the middle born, was merely called Fate. He held in his sway a realm of infinite possibility, of roads and of times unseen and possible and yet existing all at once. Of improbabilities and yet of logic. Of technology and of futures yet to be and never to be. This world was called The Fifth Quadrant. The third brother, who was the first born.... or was supposed to be the first born.... but it's hard to tell with Chaos.... He had a fancy for a realm of eternal struggle. Of things being when they should not be and where they should not be and as they should not be. Of Futures colliding and of Pasts muddled by the hands of the present. Of worlds that were once infinities apart being turned into but one orb in an endless sky of black. Of devils and demons of magic and machina of elves and dragons and humans and destruction and chaos and chaos and chaos. A world known as Mergence. These were the brothers and these were their realms. How long had they existed, it was unknown. It merely was that they were and that they cared for these realties. In as much as they saw the fact that any one of them could turn on the others and look to take control of them all. So Fate and The CrEAtoR sought to seal off the Realms from tampering. Removing their Influence from the Multiverse and the Multiverses Influence from them. Each took the portion of his essence, and with it a portion of his power.... the portion that exacted control over what each was.... and combined them into one force.... And in an act of what cannot be considered cruelty.... nor can it be considered humane.... forced the 'possible corruption' onto the last brother. The sudden force shattered what little mind he had and drove him mad. In a separate realm that was not a realm nor was it a world or even a plane of existence he was bound with Chains of pure time and put into a Pit that was already full. Here, in the Open Realm was he sealed. Here is where The CrEAtoR became The Third and Fate remained as he was. After an aeon of watching his realm remain unchanged by any hand but that of the natural flow of time The Third became bored. Wanderlust struck.... and he returned to the Multiverse. Here he found Khazan.... Here he found the Arena. A world untouched.... and yet nothing without the smell of influence. He was Intoxicated. Creation, Possibility.... everything flowed like sweet ambrosia here. Here, the story becomes muddled. No details exist.... but here The Third became ThreeDee and here ThreeDee became ThreeDark.
