While not a prolific creator, he's been behind the scenes helping many of the well-known plots and characters come to life. He's also the head programming honcho of an exciting new Project (still under development) called "Heisen". Abdiel thanks for taking some time this evening to answer a few questions DF. DragonFang well... hard to say, there is of course Hand of Justice, my only character to make it to the Main Event. However, HoJ is my LEAST favorite character ThreeDark Bwaa DragonFang so, I'd probably have to say GrimSpire was my greatest, just becuase I have (non-fpl) plans for it. ThreeDark It blew up Abdiel heh Marksman I didn't have this many people for my interview Abdiel What about Grimspire made him the best success for you? What about his writing, his victory record, IC involvement, and such, etc etc. ThreeDark tells everyone to Ignore Abby, this is "The Guys Bug Sam" Night. Abdiel weeps ThreeDark patpats Abby DragonFang Well, not so much victory record, nor writing, but idea. Abdiel Elaborate? DragonFang GS is the only character I've really felt attached too. That I really truly wanted to do more with. Outside the FPL. I've had other char's in the FPL I really liked, but none that I really wanted to exist outside of it. GrimSpire, (my second character btw) has managed to keep my imagination working on it sense I first made him. ThreeDark Grimrot! DragoonT Can We Expect a New Version of him Anytime soon Sam? DragonFang Well, it depends, I do have a bit of a backlog in the character department. But I'm not really all that active at the moment, and I've got a couple of other characters that are going before I think of doing another GrimSpire. Editor's note: too late! ThreeDark Sam is busy elsewhere. Marksman Sam, I saw your wife the other day. DragonFang Oh yeah? Abdiel sighs Marksman She sure is UGLY DragonFang yeah, but she sure can cook though Marksman I could only hope DragonFang ~_~ Marksman is done Abdiel What are some of your favorite IC storyarcs in the FPL thusfar? Any plans to participate in any in the future? DragonFang Ah, well... honestly, I don't really pay attention to the FPL's IC elements very much. Marksman But the death of Whisper moved him to his core ThreeDark bops Jono DragonFang Actually, I only pay attention to the COMING becuase Josh forces me to at gun point, and Apoc cuase I need to check up on the characters of mine that Darth is using. Abdiel what is your opinion of the COMING as a whole, and Sam's place in it? What are your future plans for Sam? DragonFang well, I enjoy the COMING, partly becuase I'm part of it, and becuase we goof around a _lot_ while writing for it. As far as Sam... well, Sam is dead. ThreeDark Yay for the Goofyness - YAY! Dead Sam! DragonFang Sam will be back... in a sense :) DragoonT That won't stop us from Using his corpse for our....Experiments.. DragonFang (possibly not OC though) DragoonT You mentioned Earlier that you haven't been active much in the AOC. Reasons? DragonFang Well, I work full time, and I've got a full time GF, and I've got other hobbies as well (most recent is 3D modeling, god that's addictive). Then of course, there is my own game I'm making Heisen, which takes up a good portion of time as well. All in all, I don't really pay a lot of attention to the AoC ThreeDark (insert shameless plug here) Abdiel What can you tell us about Heisen? DragonFang grins ThreeDark NOOOO! Abdiel no, he's going to give a brief summary DragonFang Alright, well, Heisen is much like the AoC. However, rather than being set in an 'anything goes' enviroment, it's set up more like an RPG. More, I can not say at this time :) Abdiel see? ThreeDark Liar. You can say alot more. You're just making me look stupid. DragonFang *grins* But I wont - more will be said when Chad stops slacking Abdiel oookay, so, speaking of projects you're working on, do you have any future plans for characters? DragonFang yeah, actually I do. Possibly none of which will ever see the light of day. ThreeDark CYNS! Abdiel any examples you'd like to share? DragonFang Well I plan on redoing one of my old characters Grimrot. He was, well 'me' kinda, he was a real Khazanian who pretended to be a 'player' in the FPL... went along sorta with the first COMING. He'll be redone a bit different this time though. ThreeDark Wheee! Abdiel What do you think distinguishes a truly "great" character from a "good" one Marksman A good bribe ThreeDark Making sure nobody can FA you. DragonFang Nothing. A 'great' characters is generaly just a 'good' character that more people like better. Marksman Dangit, I should have put that for my answer Abdiel Can you give us an example for each? DragonFang Alright, a 'great' would be Lord Apathy. He was rather popular at the time. But, I didn't honestly think he was all that hot. A 'good' character that I rather liked, was err, well I can't recall the name. *needs caffine to think* DragoonT Sam..Where and When did the whole Newbie-Eating bit Start? DragonFang Ah... honestly tony I don't have a clue how that started. It just did, and I've been known as the eater of newbies for a very long time it seems. Abdiel Do you enjoy your role, or do you think it's overplayed by others? DragonFang Yeah, I enjoy it, I find it kinda amusing, 'cause I'm not generaly that mean to newbs unless they're annoying. Marksman Sam, do you remember when you were my pet newbie? Back when you went by Grimrot and first appeared. DragonFang Yeah Jono, I remember Marksman Aren't you glad I'm such a great guy? Marksman throws the hard hitting questions DragonFang lol, that's why you're coming to my wedding right? Marksman I'm coming so I can sing to your wife to be and prove I can sing better than Ewan McGregor DragonFang lol, yeah yeah :P Marksman That, and I WILL be the Best Man if I have to slaughter the other candidates to do so Abdiel So, as the official Newbie Eater, do you have any advice for the newbies of the FPL in terms of character creation or chatroom behaviour? DragonFang laughs Marksman Suck up to Marksman DragonFang Yeah, as far as chat goes, don't get on peoples nerves (okay that's fairly basic). Don't whine and such to the vets as they aren't there to fulfill your every whim. Abdiel Any advice on how to make effective/popular characters? DragonFang As far as creation goes, try to be imaginative. Don't try and cut and paste someone else's idea, unless you can put a new spin on it. Also, I generaly find bribing the vets with $20's works wonders. :) Abdiel Let's hear your FPL Top 3 characters, all time. Marksman waits for the magic "Whisper, Thor, Xerathis" triangle ThreeDark hits Jono three times for good measure DragonFang 'Ight, well Forté is one of them. He's probably one of my favs ever to come through. Stumpbot would be another, just becuase just the idea of him makes me laugh, no matter how many times I read him. DragonFang and the third, would have to be ............. just because, well, I dunno how that got in the list. Must be a mistake or something. ThreeDark kills Sam for mentioning the Cheetah Killer Abdiel What are your thoughts on the graphics program known as "HeroMachine"? DragonFang HeroMachine is alright. It dosn't make "great" graphics. But some of us would rather do their own art, than take anime pictures, and are unable to actually draw. Abdiel what do you think of Serge's last change to the system allowing all copyrighted images to be submitted? ThreeDark Damn that Simpson man for making a fuss. Marksman I'd just like to add that I will never vote for a character with a picture I know is well known ala Batman/Superman/X-Men DragonFang Well, I personaly don't mind it. I think the _reason_ for having to do so was lame, and if I find out who caused it I'll drop them off a very very tall building or....(insert other forms of turture here)... but it dosn't really bother me any. I prefer it to having no gfx et al. Abdiel What do you think of accusations of elitism in the FPL? DragonFang It exists most definatly. Abdiel is it a bad thing, a necessary thing... DragonFang Well... I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. It definatly makes it harder for a newb to earn a place in the FPL. But, it also makes that victory that much more sweet when they do. Abdiel If there was one thing you could change about the FPL/AoC, what would it be? Marksman Me being in it probably :) Abdiel other than changing it to Heisen ~_~ DragonFang -_-! DragonFang Yeah, GrimSpire and Great Wall of Carnage DragonFang just wants to see two buildings go at it Abdiel do you have any thoughts on the FPL as a whole, its place in your life, its meaning to you personally, etc? DragonFang Well, I think it's a great game, it's fueled my creativity for a long time. And (okay, I'm not going to explain this, and it'll sound weird, but) I can honestly say with out the FPL I would never have met my gf. Abdiel So, will you try green eggs and ham?
