Hell hath no Fury like a woman scorned. -- William Shakespeare Dragoon T has been a cornerstone of the FPL community for as long as anyone can remember. Famous for his PMS-y but charismatic female characters, T has recently branched out and is exploring new types of characters as well as bringing back some of his classic hits. Mack and Landon help me out with this interview. There are a LOT of characters mentioned. Where possible they've been linked for your browsing convenience. Abdiel Eh-lo DragoonT =p Macketh Charmed. Abdiel Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions today, T. Alright... which of your characters do you feel is your greatest success, and why? DragoonT Probably a Tie between Elwin and Dragoon T. Elwin was my best 'Story driven' character. She had little in the way of Knockout Power concepts, but because of her I was able to create a strong IC Persona. Dragoon T, on the other hand, is my Technical Masterpiece. I always get a little misty eyed at how his Power Combo came together. Abdiel Which version of T would you be alluding to? DragoonT Gah..Forgot there's like 4 of them ^_~ The last one, the one that Made the ME. Abdiel In that classic match vs Hitokiri Shinigami, I remember DragoonT That was ACTUALLY a Rematch. They had met in Elims, Incidently, Hitokiri was T's Only Lost ^_~ Abdiel so... in a way... 'tis Fate, eh? DragoonT Maybe. Hitokiri was a good character, I didn't mind losing. I DID think he should've had it the 2nd though. The Main Reason he lost the 1st time was because of a lack of a Detection Power. Abdiel What's this about your tendency to lose the Main Event - is it just an inside Joke, or is there a precedent behind it? Even the scenario for T vs Hitokiri mentioned it. Care to tell the tale? DragoonT Hehehe. Yeah, It's Sorta of an FPL In-Joke. Want the full story? Abdiel Always. DragoonT Well..It started with Sailor Archer. I was the FIRST person to reach the ME Twice in a row, so I had already started a precedent. Furthermore, all of my Characters had Undefeated Records. Sailor Archer, as history shows, lost, and I went and tried again. If I remember correctly, the next one was Nyght. And..she lost. Landon Forever denied the ME DragoonT FURTHERMORE: I became the first one to reach the ME THREE Times! Macketh So, essentially the Susan Lucci of the FPL? Landon Except Dragoon doesn't act on All My Children DragoonT More or less. If you look closely at the title of the Dragoon T vs Hitokiri ME match, the title is 'We all know he won't win' or something like that. Abdiel So... any plans to crush this weighty curse in the near future? * Landon VMs to ensure the curse continues DragoonT Hehehe. I'm hoping to. Then again, It's sorta an FPL Tradition Now Abdiel I'd say if you won it'd bring about the Apocalypse, but... been there, done that. DragoonT =p Landon The Apocalypse, Part Deux Macketh Speaking about the Apocalypse... Which seal of the Apocalypse did the creation of a male character(Nader) from you break? 5th? 6th? Yeah..Nader scared alot of people. I was bored that day and loaded up the Creator and just let my Juices flow. I was kinda scared at what came out too. Macketh so T, Filia vs Philia: who do you back? DragoonT Phillia. Filia has the Dragon thing and the Huge Mace, but Phillia has a REAL Nasty Dominatrix streak. NEVER play Paper Rock Scissors with her! Macketh yes... I'm sure Stahn can attest... *cough*blackmagicbook*cough* Abdiel Aaaanyway, any sneak peeks of future works you'd care to share? ;) DragoonT Hehe. Well, I've got New Versions of Fury() and Nyght coming up. I recently submitted a Character named Erika, but she got vaped in the Server wipe so I need to Redo her. I'm also planning on Cleaning up and Redoing Aerin, at Hexx's request. Landon AERIN! Abdiel Nyght is coming back, eh? DragoonT Yup. She Missed COMING Back, But She'll be COMING again^_~ Landon Oh my. Macketh COMING again!? What stamina. Abdiel What's your perspective on the whole COMING phenomenon, and Nyght's place in the group? DragoonT The COMING Phenomenon? God..I don't why the heck we all did so good. I guess it goes to show you how far a Joke character can go when done right. As for Nyght.. Well...She was originally an In-Joke about how all my Characters were Female, and then the whole Mallet thing started, and before we knew it she was the 'Tough Girl' of the COMING. I'll give 'ya a Secret though - something BIG is gonna happen to Nyght, and Soon. * Abdiel holds his breath in anticipation Macketh She's not going to be pregnant is she? Landon Yeah. Nyght and Lee.... well..... * DragoonT pulls out his Mallet and clobbers Gigs * Macketh owies Abdiel Do you find it easier to write female characters? DragoonT Believe it or not, Yeah. It's weird sometimes. I usualy play a Female in RPGs too. Abdiel A gentle giant to the core, I take it DragoonT I guess you could put it that way. Abdiel So, in your opinion, what makes a character "great"? DragoonT Well...It takes 3 things. One: It has to read well. I like my characters to be almost a story in and of themselves. Second: It needs to show more than just 'Offensive/Defensive' power. The Powers should Mesh and flow, enhancing and enriching rather than being there to win. And Finally it needs to be interesting. We've seen Dozens of Martial artists and Demons and whatnot. A Truly good character does something original. Abdiel Those are good rules... * Macketh nods Macketh A generic question from me, personal 3 FPL characters? as in, who's caught your eye? DragoonT All Time? Hmmm. I'd have to say Devyn Soyokaze, Mr Graves, and The Extra. Macketh oh? And why so? DragoonT Well, Devyn did exactly what I just said...He's almost the perfect character in my eye. Mr Graves had guts in meshing a handful of powers to get Teleportation before it was official AND made it his main Shtick, and the Extra was just plain Hilarious * Macketh nods Macketh so, any dream fights? say, next CoC? DragoonT Dream fights? Oh yes, Plenty: Dragoon T vs Kaas for one. That was SUPPOSED to Happen, but Kaas lost a match and T went out of Elims before he got there. Macketh Well, destiny's fickle... DragoonT I'd also like to see Dragoon T vs Mr Graves, if only for the IC Ramifications^_~ Macketh Heh, a veritable ballet... Abdiel What advice would you give to newbie creators who are struggling to make their first "Hit"? DragoonT Advice? Concentrate on getting your powers to mesh. Don't tack on every available Advantage because you can or it's your main power. If it has Area Effect or Seeker or whatever then it should have a GOOD reason. I can't count the times I've been turned off when I see some Bloated Power stacked with Advantages with little or no reason. Abdiel And the obligatory Graphics question. What's your take on this whole "HeroMachine" business? DragoonT Well..I know I'll never use it. I've almost always used Anime based pictures and I'll probably continue to use them. I don't see anything WRONG with Heromachine..I just think it's Kinda bland if EVERYONE ends up using it Macketh Well, off the FPL a bit, any anime prefs? DragoonT Well..Ask Anyone: I'm a Mechahead. I'm a Gundam Fanboy. Favorite series is 08th MS Team, followed closely by 0083 Stardust Memory. Aside from those... Slayers is a Big one, and so is Record of Lodoss War.
