Eventually we'll be branching out to cover New Prospects, and perhaps some other... interesting Personages. If I don't have an interview to post up, or if feel like it, you might see a rant or issue column/editorial here as well. Don't worry, this time you're spared. =) First Interview: Poe Poe is a prolific artist with a flare for funny, kickass characters. I really dig his ideas and his style - his stories bring out the bloodthirsty perv in all of us (and that can only be a good thing). Oh, and he does some kinda webcomic thing too. Landon helps me out with this interview. Abdiel hello Poe yo Abdiel Oookay... I guess first off, let me say congrats on Babylon Jones' most recent success. How many ME Contenders/Champions does this make for you, now? Poe Um... I lost track... Six, I think. Abdiel Heh. Guess that happens after a while. Which of your characters do you feel has been your greatest "success," and why? Poe I still prefer Bunny for some reason... don't really know why. Abdiel Is it the suit, or the story? ;) Poe The story. Abdiel I'm sure everyone knows that you draw your own pictures for your characters. Do you usually work up something original for each new character, or do you work off of existing work? Poe It seems to be mostly existing work... though I'm starting to run low on that so I guess I'm going to have to start trying that 'working up something new' thing Abdiel Every FPLer reads (or should read) your excellent webcomic Exploitation Now. Most of your FPL competitors can be seen in EN's plotline as well. Do you consider them essentially the same character, or are there often salient differences between the two? Poe Most of them have differences between them... really I'm just an unorginal bastard, otherwise I'd be making up completly new stuff for the fpl Landon With that in mind, are we going to see any characters along the lines of Mikoto or, dare I say it, Saiyan Chick Tomata in EN? Poe no... hell no... Abdiel so we can't assume Khazan's Jordan Kennedy is a lesbian? Drat... Poe hrm... after being mistreeted by crinos and tristian, I'd be surprised if she wasn't by now... Abdiel What, to you, constitutes a "great character"? Poe Hrm... it really isn't somthing I could put into words I think... Skin tight leather helps though I think. Abdiel As an artist (and a mighty skilled one at that), what are your thoughts on the program known as "Heromachine" and its place in the FPL? Poe I've never been crazy about the idea of some sort generic image program... seems to me it would start to get bland after a while with no real variety Abdiel How important is the picture, to you, in terms of determining character quality, or getting your vote? Poe I know I shouldn't be... I do tend to be bias for the character with the better pic Abdiel I guess the million dollar question is: do you have any future character plans? (that you'd be willing to share with us, anyway) Poe Heh... I'm working on it. Seems like take longer and longer to make a new character everytime I do it. Abdiel Character fatigue... or just greater refinement? Poe Hrm.. a little from column A, a little from column B... Abdiel Do you have any advice for new creators out there? Poe heh Abdiel If there was one thing you could change about the FPL/AoC, what would it be? (sorry for the painfully boring/typical questions) Poe Hrm... I think I'd try to figure out somway to automate some of the more slow admin functions like graphics and such. Abdiel Top three FPL characters of all time? (or just the first three that pop into your head) Poe Three that have always been stuck in my head were Mark, God of Failure!, The first version of the Otakalypse, and Tina Anne Abbey ( I think that was her name... I can't remember exactly) Landon Speaking as an old school player that didn't quite get Mark, God of Failure, what exactly was it about him that makes a lot of the older players remember him so fondly? Poe Hmm... I think it's because we don't actully remember exactly what it was that we liked about the char, we just remember that we did. Abdiel Are there any matches (CoC, Main Event, UnderCard) that you wish you could do over now? Any match you wish had happened, but didn't? (due to time differences, etc.) Poe I would have loved to have a Ensigns J&J vs Ralph and Bimbo match durring the last CoC... They would have went together so well. Abdiel Finally, is there anything you want to say to the entire FPL (keeping in mind the elections and the next CoC are coming up?) Poe Hrm... 'I am not a crook'?
