Scott Rolen: He's just visiting

So, when Rolen trots out onto the field tomorrow
night, will he have displaced J.D. Drew as the most
hated Cardinal in the eyes of Phillies fans?
"Maybe he'll take a little heat off me," said Drew,
who, after being selected by the Phillies with the
second pick of the 1997 draft, spurned lucrative
offers and reentered the draft, eventually signing
with the Cards. "It really is ironic how our
situations worked out."
Even Rolen had to chuckle at the thought.
"Everyone is saying how I made J.D.'s life a lot
easier in Philly," Rolen said. "I may wear a J.D. Drew
jersey during batting practice to soften the blow."
When Drew made his first appearance at the Vet with
the Cardinals in August 1999, the boos were loud and
full of venom. Major League Baseball sent extra
security to the game. Some fans went overboard and
hurled batteries at Drew.
It was a bad scene that no one wants repeated.
"I'm curious how it's going to be," Drew said. "Scott
had so many good years there. If you're a baseball
fan, you have to respect the way he plays. But a lot
of times baseball comes down to the business side.
"My situation was different. I never played there. I
wouldn't think Scott would deserve anything like that.
But the fans might see it differently."
