Drew's return

J.D. Drew is expected to return to action today for
the first time since aggravating a left ankle sprain
on Sunday. The Cardinals right fielder has been fitted
with a brace to support the ankle. The device is less
cumbersome than an air splint and will have to be worn
the entire season.
Drew, whose locker is next to Pujols, quipped, "Maybe
we're passing this around."
An appearance by Drew's 5-month-old black Labrador
retriever, Drake, broke up morning stretching
exercises Thursday. The dog went from player to
player, receiving attention at every stop, before
getting the biggest cheer for moving to the center of
the stretching circle to heed nature's call.
The renowned animal lover La Russa was left to provide
clean-up duties.
