ARTIST BIO
Don was born in Fairfax, Ca where at a young age was continuously accepting the sounds of harmony and melody. His parents would listen to music as Don would read the lyrics that were printed on the back of every record and attempt to sing along with the artists. His parents listened to an eclectic choice in music the Beatles, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Vivaldi, & Bach. At the age of 12 he started writing poems and eventually songs. At the age of 20 he moved to Chico, Ca. There he would find that music was a way of life for him. He then reached out and began playing in numerous bands in the Chico music scene. He formed and played in both Bluegrass and Rock n' Roll bands. He left Chico 8 years later and moved back to the Bay Area and now resides north of San Francisco closer to a broader music scene in Marin County and the San Francisco-scene. Don plays throughout the Bay Area & the west coast. The music Don plays solo resembles the soft touch and enriched lyrics of Gram Parsons whom pioneered the change from mainsteam country to a blend of country mixed with blues, rock, jazz, & well written lyrics. A country that lacks cheap lyricism & industry looks. This style has been around for some time now and bands like Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Flying Burrito Brothers, & early Rolling Stones have used to their advantage. Where every song has a newly vintage feeling. A blend of Blues, Rock, & Country. Don still plays solo shows constantly & recently opened for Rosanne Cash at The Fillmore with Darren Nelson (of THE FiTTS) & Lee Simpson. Don currently signed a contract with Indie Label Foma Records out of Santa Monica, Ca. He will be releasing a new solo album in late 2005. |
